The book will provide some basic aspects of the pathophysiology of infection, but essentially the book will be practical-based and use case-illustrations to highlight key aspects of diagnosis, management and prevention.
From the reviews: "This small book is devoted to the basic science and general epidemiology of infections that may complicate critical care practice. ... Infectious disease consultants and laboratory staff supporting infection control programs are an appropriate audience for this work, written by three specialists from the U.K. ... It emphasizes epidemiology and a scientific approach to infection in an effective presentation." (David J. Dries, Doody's Book Reviews, May, 2013)
