Timely Seasons of Desserts: A Trilogy

Darlene Machtan masterfully controls and creates a complex collection of personal stories and reflections, poems, and recipes speaking of relationships, pleasures, and intimate snapshots of life. The compilation is a three-volume set of chapbooks opening with a series of poems on marriage, communication, and love. This is followed by an array of seasonal poems. The final grouping is dessert recipes and food for thought on knowing oneself and others. The Trilogy shows how poetry can feed our need for meaning in a world starving for sweet endings.
