Russell Punter (Author) Russell Punter was born in Bedfordshire, England. From an early age he enjoyed writing and illustrating his own stories. He trained as a graphic designer at art college in West Sussex before entering the world of publishing. He has written over one hundred books for children of all ages, ranging from original stories to adaptations of classic novels.Lesley Sims (Author) Lesley dreamed of being a writer, but studied law as her mother insisted she had "something to fall back on". Since joining Usborne Publishing, she has written and edited hundreds of books, from funny rhyming stories to an award-winning history book. Nowadays, she is often found recording books, too, in Usborne's very own recording studio.
Thanks to the appealing illustrations and a careful choice of words keep the language interesting. It would go well in a Year 1 or 2 book corner for those more confident children who are beginning to read to themselves and enjoy the familiarity of phonics readers. Parents might like to use it to support their child's phonics development. They could ask their child to spot any digraphs or trigraphs, or simply enjoy reading the story together.
