ANNE BOOTH is Professor of Economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Her main focus of research is the economic development of South East Asia and she is co-editor of the Palgrave Macmillan series on the Modern Economic History of South East Asia. She has published a number of books, including The Indonesian Economy in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries: A History of Missed Opportunities. - PAUL MOSLEY is Professor of Economics at the University of Sheffield and was formerly President of the Development Studies Association. He is author of Overseas Aid: Its Defence and Reform; Aid and Power (with John Toye and Jane Harrigan); and Finance against Poverty (with David Hulme) as well as a number of papers on development and political economy issues.
