Computer aided design (CAD) technology plays a key role in advanced manufacturing environment. This work extends the concept of intelligent CAD to knowledge intensive CAD. The concept advocates that intensive life-cycle knowledge regarding products and design processes must be incorporated into the centre of the CAD architecture.
