ATM Networks

This collection presents selected research papers from the "Third IFIP Workshop on the Performance Modelling and Evaluation of ATM Networks", organized on the behalf of the International Federation for Information Processing held in the UK. It provides a fundamental source of reference on research techniques and tools concerning ATM networks worldwide. Original research contributions are offered on traffic modelling and characterization; traffic and congestion control; bandwidth and admission control; ATM switch architectures; models of ATM switches; routing and optimization; adaptation layer; quality of service; network management; high speed LAN's and MAN's; and performance modelling studies. Contributions come from researchers belonging to a wide range of industrial and academic organizations and countries. This book is the second volume of an earlier 1995 publication under the same title and should appeal to all those involved in the theory and practice of ATM networks, especially computer and communication industrial personnel, academic staff and research students working in computer science and electrical engineering.
