    Beskrivning

Oncosexology: Contemporary Management of Sexual Problems in Patients with Urological Cancers reviews the current state of knowledge on sexual health in patients with urological cancers. Specifically, it reviews the prevalence, pathophysiology, and management of sexual dysfunction in men and women with these types of cancers. The book explores the emotional and psychological effects of a cancer diagnosis on sexual identity, self-esteem, and intimate relationships. It highlights how a cancer diagnosis can impact sexual confidence and mental well-being. This is a novel and advanced resource for anyone in sexual health and cancer care fields.

Oncosexology employs a multidisciplinary approach and specific techniques to address sexual dysfunction in cancer patients, while ethical considerations emphasize the importance of initiating discussions on sexuality and providing holistic care to address the needs of cancer patients.

    • Discusses how choosing to monitor prostate cancer without immediate treatment affects sexual health, including potential psychological impacts and concerns about long-term effects
    • Examines the biological mechanisms leading to erectile dysfunction following radical pelvic surgery, including nerve damage, vascular changes, and hormonal alterations
    • Presents specific sexual health concerns and treatment considerations for gay and trans women diagnosed with prostate cancer
