He is a life member of various global scientific societies. The current role and responsibilities of Karuna Shankar demand a systemic approach with synthetic thinking in the area of analytical and bioanalytical chemistry of natural products to excel in multidisciplinary research and to provide problem-oriented solutions. The nature of my research work is interdisciplinary and applied which has application in the herbal pharmaceutical industry and biosciences domain i.e. Standardization of AYUSH medicines; plant-based drug development; chemotypic characterization of plants; plant?microbe interaction; and related biotechnological applications. My overall contribution to science particularly Plant Natural Product Research was evaluated regularly by CSIR-CIMAP authorities and recognized as outstanding and rewarded with Merit promotions in two terms. Recognition as a Fellow of National Environmental Science Academy (NESA), New Delhi, Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry FRSC, (London), Fellow of Institution of Chemist [FIC], Fellow of Indian Chemical Society (FICS), and Fellow of the Institution of Chemists (FICC) were received from professional scientific societies.
