Death of a Whistleblower: A Vulgar Display of Power (Vol 1)

On 10 October 2023 a policy analyst received a death sentence from his manager. Everything he had done and been ended that day. His crime was flagging a technical problem with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's depositor compensation scheme—the flagship promise to protect ordinary depositors if a bank ever failed. Somebody needed to speak up. He did. What followed was months of retaliation dressed up as a support process, waged alongside a whistleblowing framework that failed. Along the way, a cast of characters joined in who had the chance to do the right thing—but didn't.Death of a Whistleblower (Vol 1) sets the scene but it is not the end. The war has only just begun and the story continues as the machinery of retaliation kicks in and the whistleblower fights back in pursuit of justice.
