David G. Richards is Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures at the State University of New York in Buffalo. He is the author of Georg Buchner and the Birth of the Modern Drama, named "Outstanding Academic Book of 1977" by Choice.

The book concludes with a selected bibliography and a very useful index. Although it contains a fair amount of Jungian terminology, the book reads well, and it would be useful to upper-division undergraduates.
