Ta Nyahl, last of his kria clan, has been trying to revenge the death of his people at the hands of humans. He and his cousin are captured and tortured and his cousin dies, but Ta Nyahl is taken as a slave by a human woman named Cybelle Lawton. He swears to serve her and tries to help her flee from others of her kind across the mountains and into the wastelands, but she is taken by human men. He manages to rescue her, but he frightens her and she runs away from him. Trying to fulfill his oath, he tracks her down, finds that she has come from a different world and that all the kria are in danger from a powerful human company. At the humans'' base in the wastelands, they find her partner. Can the three of them save the world?
