Shalom Eliezer is a retired professor of physics at Soreq Nuclear Research Center, Israel and he was a permanent visiting professor for 25 years at Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain. He has published over 330 papers in scientific journals, written or coauthored seven earlier titles, of which this book is the third as second editions, contributed chapters to other books and given many invited lectures at international conferences. His area of research include laser-plasma interactions, high-pressure physics, nuclear physics and elementary particle physics. A fellow of the American Physical Society and recipient of the Israeli Landau Award.Noaz Nissim is the head of the High Energy Density Physics (HEDP) department at Soreq Nuclear Research Center (SNRC), Israel, and the chief scientist of The Israeli Institute for Fusion Research. He conducted experiments at several high intensity lasers around the world such as the Janus laser facility (JLF) in LLNL, USA, the GEKKO laser facility at the Institute of Laser Engineering (ILE) at Osaka University in Japan, the PHELIX laser facility at GSI in Darmstadt, Germany, the PALS laser facility at Prague, Czech Republic, and at the National Laser Facility (NLF) in Soreq NRC, Israel. He is the author of over 40 papers in scientific journals in the fields of high-pressure physics, laser-plasma interactions and laser induced nuclear fusion.
