The Art of Law in the International Community

Mary Ellen O'Connell is the Robert and Mario Short Professor of Law and Research Professor of International Dispute Resolution-Kroc Institute at the University of Notre Dame, where she devotes her research to strengthening international law in the interest of peace. In 2018, Mary Ellen was a Fulbright Fellow at the Norwegian Nobel Institute. From 2005-2010, she chaired the International Law Association's Committee on the Use of Force, followed by two years as a vice president of the American Society of International Law.
