Peter Hocken has been a leader and scholar within the charismatic movement since 1971. He was President of the Society for Pentecostal Studies 1985-6 and executive secretary from 1988-97. Since 1996 he has been an executive member of the Toward Jerusalem Council II initiative of Messianic Jewish and Christian leaders, and since 2000 he has been a member of an informal international Catholic-Messianic Jewish dialogue with some senior Catholic participants.
