    Beskrivning

Meshed transmission systems explained for students and engineers The role of transmission grids is becoming increasingly central as the energy transition progresses, creating a growing need for a rigorous understanding of the power system as a whole. Fundamentals of Power Transmission Systems covers transmission lines, synchronous and converter-connected generators, power transformers, and high voltage direct current links. Power flow calculations, the use of symmetrical components for unbalanced fault analysis, reliability assessment, and grounding methods are treated as well. The authors explain the underlying physical phenomena and derive the governing equations required to understand the power system behavior. Further topics include voltage and frequency control as well as transmission system planning and operation. Five detailed case studies of large disturbances are presented—including the 2003 blackouts in North America, Italy, and southern Sweden and eastern Denmark, the 2006 Continental European system split, and the 2025 blackout on the Iberian Peninsula. Fundamentals of Power Transmission Systems serves university students studying power systems and engineers seeking a current, equation-driven reference on transmission system analysis. The book also enables experienced professionals to refresh, update, and broaden their knowledge. In addition, readers will find calculation exercises with solutions to support self-study and practical application.
