There Ain't No Rainbows Round Here

A beautifully told debut picture book from Naomi Tipping reminding us that it’s not what we see but the way we see it that countsWhen a crocodile called Mumtaaz meets a girl in the city, he explains that he’s looking for rainbows. But, as she tells him, “There ain’t no rainbows around here.” In fact, there’s only people, traffic, weeds, pigeons, rain, and puddles . . . But with Mumtaaz’s help, the girl learns that if she looks more closely, she will find that there is beauty in the ordinary, there are flowers growing in the weeds, and there are rainbows to be found in the rain. Lyrical and uplifting, this accessible story is a gentle nudge to look at things a different way.
