Field of Fuzzy Possibles

In these thirteen lectures, Félix Guattari charts the gap between his work on schizoanalysis with Gilles Deleuze in A Thousand Plateaus and the beginning of what would define his later theorising in Schizoanalytic Cartographies. The Guattari they present is an innovative and profoundly practical thinker, who – despite his reputation for hyper-complexity – cares deeply about system-building. Drawing from semiotics, thermodynamics and more, he develops a multiplicity of models to explain the formation, function and dynamics of assemblages, exploring how they can be applied to everyday situations that range from the political to the cinematic. The result is a holistic gateway into his work, showing how his ideas evolved over time, along with how he responded to objections and developed his concepts to account for them. Guattari firmly establishes himself as a genuinely brilliant theorist, beyond his collaborations with Gilles Deleuze.
