Macroeconomic performance under various exchange rate regimes is assessed, followed by a survey of models of exchange rate regime choice. Some factual case studies are presented and related to the theoretical foundations, including the choice of exchange rate regime in the post-conflict case of Iraq.

IMAD A. MOOSA is Professor of Finance at La Trobe University, Australia. Before becoming an academic in 1991, he was an investment banker for over ten years. He has published extensively in the fields of International Finance and Macroeconomics. Recently he was an advisor to the U.S. Treasury on matters related to monetary reform in Iraq.
