    Sarah Quinton is a researcher fascinated by how digitalisation is changing society and how we as researchers explore that changed society. As an academic Sarah teaches research methods with a particular focus on the breadth and ethical implications of digital research possibilities and she spends much time encouraging her Masters’ and PhD students to consider the opportunities and complexities of digital research.  Previous writing for Sage includes a text book Postgraduate research in business: a critical guide. Sarah’s research centres around how and why digital technologies are shaping the world of consumption, small business strategy, and citizen behaviour. Her work has been published in multiple international journals including Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Strategic Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, International Journal of Management Reviews. Sarah Quinton is Chair of the Research Ethics Committee and a Senior Lecturer in the Marketing Department, Faculty of Business, Oxford Brookes University, UK. Teresa teaches on a range of undergraduate and graduate business degree programmes, while pursuing academic research interests in marketing and consumer buying behaviour. Background in magazine and newspaper publishing, and directing research programmes for consumer organisations. Has worked on a consultancy basis for a number of years for the UK Department of the Environment (DEFRA), and the National Consumer Council. Member of the Advisory Committee on Consumer Products and the Environment (advises DEFRA on sustainable consumption issues)Currently teaches second year marketing undergraduates marketing, consumer behaviour and marketing research. Teaches MSc International Management students research methods.Supervises undergraduate and Masters dissertations.Teresa is a member of the editorial Board of the ′Journal Business Strategy and the Environment′.Research interests include the impact of consumer patterns on sustainable development in the UK, focussing on the environmental and social impact, and efforts to use market-based policy instruments to change consumption patterns. Pedagogic research focuses on research into student learning.

    This text is a well written guide to conducting research. Chapters six and eight on critical reading and reflection are particularly useful, not only for post-graduate researchers but also for academics! I will definitely encourage my students to read this text and refer to it often throughout the master′s project.
