Amos journey takes him from childhood into manhood through the tumultuous decades of the fifties and sixties, as he experiences the struggle of African-Americans for civil rights, the Beat generation, Vietnam, and Haight-Ashbury; all in search of the threads that connect the fabric of his life to the rest of the world.

He reflects on religion, family, relationships, love, war, and country amidst the historical America that has captivated him, exposing the core of his extraordinary soul along the way.
