Needs and Wants

Needs and Wants is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for English/Language Arts, addressing Literacy.RI.K.8 and Literacy.L.K.5. The concept of want versus need is explained through items that fall into either "fun" or "necessary" categories in this straightforward book. An inviting swimming pool and the fun it brings is set against a safe and secure home. Large delicious milkshakes are set against healthy drinking water. A graphic organizer in the back of the book places each item discussed into either wants or needs for the reader. This book should be paired with “Things I Need, Things I Want” (9781448887286) from the Rosen Common Core Readers Program to provide the alternative point of view on the same topic.
