Madeline Miller is the author of The Song of Achilles, which won the Orange Prize for Fiction 2012, was shortlisted for the Stonewall Writer of the Year 2012, was an instant New York Times bestseller, and was translated into twenty-five languages.     Madeline Millers Circe är en lysande och uppkäftig kommentar till Odysséen - berättelsen vi trodde vi kände, men nu berättad från den som i Homeros version mest var en fotnot med trollspö. Här träder Kirke fram ur marginalen som en fullödig huvudperson: gudinna, häxa, ensamvarg och överlevare.

    Miller skriver med både klassisk lärdom och modern nerv. Hon gör myten köttslig och psykologisk, och hennes feministiska blick är aldrig påklistrad - den känns självklar. Att läsa Circe är som att se Odysséen genom ett nyväckt medvetande: plötsligt förstår man hur mycket som alltid handlat om vem som fick berätta historien.
