Larry McMurtry was the author of more than thirty novels and memoirs, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning Lonesome Dove. He received an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on Brokeback Mountain. The cinematic treatment of Terms of Endearment swept the boards at the 1984 Academy Awards, winning Oscars in several categories, including Best Picture. McMurtry died in 2021 in Archer City, TX, at the age of 84.

    Jag håller nog inte med om att den verkligen var Pulitzer-kvalitet, men en väldigt läsvärd bok där det trots de många sidorna gick snabbt at ta sig igenom den. En intressant tolkning av den amerikanska westernperioden och huvudsak intressanta om än kanske inte helt trovärdiga karaktärer. Det enda som stör mig lite är att stundtals känns det som Hemingways "For whom the bells toll", en lite naiv bild av de människor som genomgått väldigt traumatiska händelser. Men det är en mindre anmärkning - läs den om du har tid över.
