    Beskrivning

★ "A must-purchase for elementary poetry collections"–School Library Journal, Starred ReviewCelebrate the seasons with this delightful collection of 50 haiku that illuminate the wonders of the natural world and brief moments in time.Time for Haiku invites young readers on a poetic journey through the seasons. Arranged from fall to winter and then spring to summer, this charming collection of haiku captures the small, fleeting sensory wonders of the natural world: the hush of falling snow, the rhythm of ocean waves, the shimmer of sun on golden sand, and the sound of waves in a seashell. Each poem serves as a gentle bridge between language and science, making the traditional Japanese haiku form both accessible and enriching for elementary students. Luciano Lozano’s Japanese art–inspired illustrations, with their minimalist brushstrokes and dynamic perspectives, bring each seasonal moment to life with warmth and whimsy.Back matter includes a brief history of haiku and a guide to writing them, encouraging young poets to create their own reflections on the world around them.Hey, Mr. Snowman! How come there are no footprintsstretching behind you?

    Recensioner i media

★ "This whimsical book is an incredible collection of haiku poetry connecting nature throughout the seasons in a celebration of life and nature. From traveling through the snow, to feeling the sand on a beach in the summer, this delightful book evokes every sense of every turn of the passing year. While the entire book flows as a cohesive exploration of the sounds, sights, and feelings of the seasons, each haiku could also stand on its own as a beautiful testament to how fast the time flows and the year changes. The artwork complements the poetry beautifully and captures the childlike wonder that is part of exploring the world and soaking it up. The back matter further explains what haiku is while also encouraging readers to create their own. VERDICT A must-purchase for elementary poetry collections for its beautiful combination or art and haikus that celebrate experiencing nature as a child."–Starred Review
