Why Is Easter Special?

There are many things that make Easter special, but the most special thing of all is that Jesus is alive! In the spring, around Easter time, nature seems to wake up like a family of bears after a long winter’s nap. Robins sing all day long in the bright sunshine. Baby chickens pop out of their shells, and baby bunnies hop around in the green grass. Boys and girls get candy, gifts, and new clothes. But as wonderful as all those things are, none of them is what really makes Easter special. Why Is Easter Special? by Barbara Miller Juliani shares the story of mama animals asking their babies if they know what makes Easter special. While the little ones have very good answers, they don’t have quite the right one. But one little girl and boy, Mia and Mason, do! Through engaging dialogue and gentle guidance, the story reveals that Easter is special because Jesus is alive, offering hope, friendship, and love that lasts forever. With warm, engaging illustrations by Stefano Martinuz, Why Is Easter Special? delights toddlers and preschoolers ages 2–5 while helping them look beyond candy, gifts, and other holiday traditions to the true joy of Easter—Jesus's resurrection. A special page for parents extends the conversation, offering simple ways to reinforce the story's message and make its spiritual lessons meaningful for young children.
