‘With twists and turns you won’t see coming, The Death of a Wrecker had me turning the pages, desperate to keep reading. I’m a big fan of the Shell House Detectives series and Emylia Hall keeps on delivering. Characters that leap from the page, an intriguing mystery, an atmospheric setting, and rich emotions—what more could you want?’ —Libby Page, author of The Lido‘Emylia Hall transports us to the salt-stung shores of Porthpella for her twistiest mystery yet. The Death of a Wrecker introduces us to a shifty new crew of suspects in this compulsive, atmospheric, and beautifully executed addition to the Shell House Detectives series.’ —Lucy Clarke, bestselling author of The Castaways and One of the Girls‘The Death of a Wrecker immediately plunges us back into the captivating world of the Shell House Detectives, via a terrifyingly high-stakes mystery. Brimming with twists and turns, rich in Cornish coastal atmosphere, and always deeply tender towards its troubled cast, this is an unmissable, unputdownable read for cosy connoisseurs.’ —Jo Harkin, author of The Pretender‘A new mystery in the Shell House series is always something to celebrate, and The Death of a Wrecker might just be the most exciting one yet. A tale of treasure and treachery, this is a richly rewarding story featuring all of your favourite characters as well as some long-buried secrets, deadly revenge, and more than a few surprises.’ —Lucy Diamond, author of The Storyteller’s Secret‘A breathtaking mystery, beautifully told—I am a diehard fan of the Shell House Detectives!’ —Rosie Walsh, author of The Man Who Didn’t Call‘The Death of a Wrecker is superb. Emylia Hall gets better and better and this is her twistiest, cleverest, most surprising mystery yet. It delivers on every level, both as an exciting thriller that kept me guessing until the very end, and a deeply satisfying human story of secrets, lies, betrayal, and love. I could taste the salty Cornish air and feel the Porthpella waves at my feet—sheer escapism, pure pleasure and a series to cherish. Fans old and new are in for a treat.’ —Emma Stonex, author of The Lamplighters‘I genuinely love picking up each new book in this series, and catching up with characters who’ve begun to feel like old friends. The mysteries are never less than compelling, the settings never less than wonderfully evocative, and the writing so imbued with human kindness it can’t fail to fill your heart. I’m already looking forward to the next one.’ —Kate Webb, author of the DI Lockyer Mysteries
