    Beskrivning

Can a boat be an ambulance? Without wheels?Avi the Ambulance is excited to go to the beach and meet his partner Zach's friend Esti and her new ambulance partner. After making sure his tires are nice and full of air, Avi and Zach head out along the busy streets of Israel. When they arrive at the beach, Avi is confused to meet Noah. Noah is a boat in the lake. He says he's an ambulance like Avi, but Noah doesn't have tires. How can he drive through Israel to bring people to the hospital? But when it's time to spring into action, Avi realizes Noah's siren, lights, and life preservers make Noah a real water ambulance. Together, the new friends make a great rescue team. This gentle story centers the importance of teamwork and appreciating the different skills and abilities we all bring to our work and relationships. The fourth book in the beloved Avi the Ambulance series about emergency vehicles in Israel is based on the real life-saving work of Magen David Adom, Israel's Emergency Services System. Back matter includes an illustrated glossary and more information about water ambulances and Magen David Adom's life-saving work.

    Recensioner i media

"Avi the Ambulance returns in this fourth book of the series, highlighting Israel's Magen David Adom ambulances and their good work saving lives. A favorite of pre-school vehicle-obsessed children, Avi is the smallest and youngest ambulance in the fleet, 'with four shiny wheels that took him everywhere, safely and quickly.' Starting in Jerusalem, and going to Tel Aviv, Haifa, and then Tiberias, Zack the driver plans a trip to the beach to join an ambulance friend who turns out to be a boat (named Noah), not a van, like Avi. Avi is confused until Noah rescues a boy who has fallen off his boat into the lake. Avi then works together with his new friend by taking the boy to be checked at the hospital. The text is appealing, with lots of sound words like 'vroom,' 'whoosh,' and 'buzz.' The backmatter shares information about the real work of Magen David Adom, the Jewish value of piku'ach nefesh, and lists a short glossary of various terms used in the text. The illustrations are perfect for a pre-K child, big and inviting, with Avi anthropomorphized and pretty darn cute. This book is recommended for those who want to continue additions to this popular series."—Association of Jewish Libraries
