Soon after her fortieth birthday, Rita smashed her elbow, followed by her marriage and her faith in everything she was taught life was supposed to be. With nothing left to lose, she confronted secrets from her past and broke free from the religious traps that held her captive. Ten years later, inspired by her solo month-long trip to Crete, Rita intentionally smashed something she treasured to celebrate her fiftieth birthday. 

This is a story about a woman who spent a decade sorting through a mess of broken rubble to slowly piece her life into a mosaic of meaning and magic.
