I Knew When I Was Five is an illustrated story that reveals how violence is normalized in our culture, and specifically in our food choices. It supports parents-and adults in general-to see and nurture children''s compassion and empathy and reject our cultural reliance on violence, and it  empowers people who have felt this tension between their own compassion and what our society expects from them.
