Light Steps

{O Prophet! We have sent you as a witness, and a bringer of good news and a warner}

{And a caller to Allah by His permission and a light-giving lamp}

Qur''ān 33:45-6

Follow in the illuminated steps of the Prophet ﷺ with a poem for our times in the seerah tradition, relating and reflecting upon stages in the history of the Prophet Muhammad''s ﷺ journey.

Author Ali Scully was born in Bradford and became Muslim in 1999, starting to work on the poem Light Steps soon afterwards. Realising he knew little about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ he set out to find out more about him, developing a deep love for the Prophet of Islam. The poem explores events from the Prophet''s life and his exemplary qualities, and includes footnotes explaining Arabic terms and names describing the Prophet''s beautiful characteristics.

The horizon was lit up

With Light of Divine Inspiration.

As Jabal al-Nūr bore the weight

Of the beloved''s illumination.
