After meeting Will, Rhiann and Ed and all the villagers of Tredham in The Painted Cave, it's lovely to be reunited with the intrepid trio of friends for a second adventure. There are mysterious ruins and buried treasure, ancient stories and even the return of the 'wild man' Finn and his dogs. It's a vivid and entertaining portrait of a very different way of life, but whose people want and worry about all the familiar things: family, sickness, money, community.
