Wreck: A Reckoning

Wreck: A Reckoning is the moment M Renae Dubois stops looking away. Picking up where Curses of Verses left off, these poems confront hard truths about her feminine competencies: what she has to offer as a woman, what she was taught to believe she lacked, and what she built in its place. Moving through desire, sex work, devotion and self-regard with unflinching candour, Dubois examines the roles women are measured against and the cost of measuring herself by them. Raw, philosophical and unexpectedly tender, Wreck is the awakening at the centre of her body of work, and a hard-won act of self-love.
