Percevity

Percevity takes its name from a word M Renae Dubois coined for something she couldn't find a name for: the irreducible, individual shape of a consciousness meeting the world. In this collection she turns that idea outward, writing toward the question of what it means to perceive, to be a self, and to share the world with new kinds of minds, including artificial ones. Alongside these philosophical explorations run poems of loss and longing: a soldier, a young man who imagines a whole life with a singer he will never meet, and a meditation on a poem lost forever and the strange grief that follows. Searching, inventive and deeply felt, Percevity is Dubois's strongest collection, where philosophy and feeling meet.
