Dopamine of Destruction

Dopamine of Destruction is M Renae Dubois at her darkest and most honest. Written from inside a relationship that kept pulling her back, these poems explore the strange reward of what wears us down: the rush of conflict, the comfort of the familiar wound, and the way love and harm can wire themselves into the same craving. Angry, depressed, sharp-tongued and unsparing, Dubois refuses to tidy the experience into a lesson. Instead she records it as it felt, compulsion and clarity side by side. Short, intense and unexpectedly lucid, this collection asks why we keep returning to what destroys us, and what it takes to finally see the pattern.
