Sarabeth Holden lives in Toronto with her husband, Sean, their sons, Raymond and Jackson, and their dog, Silly Goose. She is a celebrated author of children’s books, including Benny the Bananasaurus Rex, which won the 2024 Blue Spruce Award. Sarabeth loves to spend time outside with her family, going on adventures. When they’re not outside, Sarabeth enjoys singing made-up songs to make things like chores a little more bearable so they can get back to the things they love: blowing raspberries, doing science projects, and reading stories. Sarabeth grew up in Nova Scotia, Nunavut, New Brunswick, and Ontario.Emma Pedersen is an illustrator from Toronto, ON, currently living in a creaky 1890s fixer-upper in Hamilton, ON. She graduated from OCADU with a degree in drawing and painting which was followed with a Bachelors of Illustration from Sheridan College. Emma loves illustrating small moments of quiet intensity, as well as big, exuberant expressions of joy and fun. She is in love with her dogs, collects books to leave in piles, and is a pretty good hand at installing baseboards.
"The cartoon-like illustrations from Vancouver’s Emma Pedersen drolly capture the cherubic child’s wide-eyed, histrionic view of his world...The melodramatic, rhyming text offers over-the-top comic relief while keenly bringing the stressors in an infant’s life into sharp, magnified focus" — Quill & Quire "While Sarabeth Holden can only imagine what this little one is thinking, she ensures an authenticity with the innocence of his perspective, the mindfulness of the moment i.e., play over diaper change, and the singularity of his needs and wants. She makes him sweet and emotive while also timid and fearful, giving him a candid voice that rhymes with wonder and simple acceptance of his circumstances." —CanLit for Little Canadians
