    Beskrivning

Indigenous superheroes, systemic racism, corporate greed, and high-stakes violence collide in the explosive climax of The Reckoner Rises, a groundbreaking Indigenous science fiction young adult graphic novel series. In this fourth and final volume from award-winning, bestselling author David A. Robertson, the powerful corporation Mihko threatens to destroy the Plains Cree community of Wounded Sky. Cole, Eva, and their friends are the last line of defense as they take the fight directly to Mihko’s heavily fortified headquarters in Winnipeg.Facing an army of altered creatures and the return of a deadly enemy from Cole’s past, Cole and Eva must confront their trauma and grief while mastering their abilities as Indigenous superheroes. Can they defeat Mihko, protect Wounded Sky, and save those who have been cruelly experimented on—or will they be forced to sacrifice everything they’ve fought for?Fans and educators will love this final volume:A masterclass in Indigenous science fiction: Blends fast-paced young adult fiction, superhero storytelling, and Indigenous perspectives into a groundbreaking graphic novel series.Grounded thematic depth: Explores systemic racism, corporate greed, environmental and social justice, and the lasting impacts of violence on communities.Diverse and inclusive representation: Features an authentic, intersectional cast with vital 2SLGBTQI+ and queer representation, making it a standout choice for readers seeking LGBTQ+ Indigenous books.Real-world representation: Set in Winnipeg, Manitoba, this contemporary story reflects the experiences of urban Indigenous communities.Nuanced mental health representation: Portrays the psychological impacts of trauma, displacement, and conflict while creating opportunities for classroom discussions around mental health and healing.
