Marc Martin (Author, Illustrator) Marc Martin is an illustrator, artist and book maker based in Melbourne, Australia. His illustrations have been commissioned by clients such as Monocle magazine, Wired magazine, The Financial Review and Capital magazine. He is also the author and illustrator of A Forest, A River, The Curious Explorer's Illustrated Guide to Exotic Animals A-Z, and Max. A Forest won the 2013 Crichton Award for Children's Book Illustration, while We Are Starlings won the New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book Award 2023.

Also by Marc Martin comes this tale of friendship and urbanisation. As with The Forest (and as in all the best picture books) the pictures tell half the story, and Marc Martin is clearly a talent to watch.
