Plays are meant to be seen, not read. I think this is why so many young people can, and do, struggle with Shakespeare. Manga Classics Romeo and Juliet can certainly help with the visuals. The art is modern and colourful. Manga-style onomatopoeia is interspersed with Shakespearean language. Those who are manga traditionalists might be put off by the style of the book, as this book is read left to right. I can see this text helping reluctant readers or those struggling to visualise a play as a supplement text.
