Psychedelic Feminism

Psychedelic Feminism: Dissolving the Patriarchy proposes that altered states of consciousness challenge Western patriarchal systems of knowing and values. Based on participant observation and interviews with women in the underground psychedelic world, Kim Hewitt’s research presents evidence that working with psychedelics empowers women and offers psychospiritual growth and healing. Women explore realms of imagination, and deepen their self-awareness, connection with intuition, and relationship with their inner compass. This model of Psychedelic Feminism is accessible regardless of biological gender and offers interconnection with nature and an enchanted world of spirit, plant, animal, and ancestral allies, expanding the definition of community. Women’s voices, glimpses of the psychedelic underground, and her own experiences provide a foundation for Hewitt’s theory that embracing a diversity of consciousness can undercut patriarchal value systems and promote social change.
