New Selected Poems

This New Selected Poems brings together work from all of John Ash’s published volumes, from Casino (1978) to In the Wake of the Day (2010). It builds on Ash’s own Selected Poems (1996) to give for the first time an overview of his entire career, his movements from Manchester to the US and then Istanbul, and reveals the extent and variety of his poetic interests, as well as the consistency of his poetic voice. In doing so, it reinforces the idea that Ash may in some ways have fulfilled the title bestowed on him by Poetry magazine: ‘the best English poet of his generation’.
