"A darkly comic tale about a girl's anxiety over starting a new school" – The Times Children's Books of the Year"A short and slightly creepy story about being careful what you wish for, with added Frankenstein vibes! A great story to share with those starting a new school or struggling to fit in." – Midlands Creative Learning Services"Nicola Skinner's brilliant humour brings the scarecrow to life which causes all sorts of problems for Hattie … a sweet story about loneliness and making friends." – The School Librarian"Darkly humorous, emotionally intelligent and astutely aware supernatural schoolyard story … Crow’s deliciously dark personality serves up some fabulously funny moments with that slight macabre edge … will go down very well with any child who is experiencing upheaval in their own lives." – A Word About Books, Blog
