BARBARA SELLARS has loved the natural world for as long as she can remember; it has always inspired and comforted her. Since 2007, she has explored photography as a means of expressing this passion, capturing moments of beauty – whether it’s the fascinating form of a tree, the vibrant bands of metamorphic rock, or dawn on a Hebridean beach. Each image reflects her interpretation, standing as a witness to the transitory nature of life.

Scotland has been Barbara Sellars’ muse, both in her poetry and in her photography. Its seasons. Its nature. Its textures. Its tones. Like her poetry, her photography is delicate, sensitive and sometimes dreamy. She invites us to look close, then closer still, to focus in on details we might otherwise have missed. From a different angle. From a new perspective. The beautiful images conveyed a journey that was obviously very important and meaningful to her, and as such they have an authenticity that stands them apart.
