Me & Rumi

Little do we know about Shamsi Tabrizi, the Rumi's heart companion, apart from what Mevlana and those near him have told us. We have even less of such information in English; this is the only compilation of Maqalat-e Shams-i Tabrizi I know in English. It contains many (not all) of Maqalat conversations. Chittick is a careful translator but one should know that, either because of the original work, or because of Chittick's language, it is not very easy to understand for those that might not be very familiar with academic and Sufi terminology (even though there are extensive footnotes for the latter one). Maybe it is also his way of translating that is a bit troublesome. Whichever the case, I got used to it by reading and rereading - eventually, it started to open up.
