Black Beauty

Part of the Chiltern Classics rangeBlack Beauty is a handsome, well-bred colt, urged by his mother to work hard, serve his masters obediently and never to bite or kick. Such restraint is sorely tested when Beauty is sold to a succession of owners who ill-treat him. Told from Black Beauty's perspective, Anna Sewell's much-loved story was written to promote kind, sympathetic treatment of horses, a runaway success following its publication in 1877. Chiltern are publishers of exquisitely crafted editions of the world's finest classic literature. These beautiful books are a perfect mix of tradition and the very latest in printing techniques. With wonderful original, detailed and embossed covers, sparkling gilt edges, cream art paper, ribbon markers and stitched binding they are simply the most beautiful classics ever published.
