Girl who Fell to Earth

Patricia Forde is from Galway, on the west coast of Ireland. She is the 2023-2026 Laureate na nÓg (Ireland's children's literature laureate). Her first novel The Wordsmith (Little Island, 2015) won a White Raven Award. It has since been published in the United States (as The List), Australia, France, Denmark, Russia, Turkey and the Netherlands. In 2019 Patricia’s Bumpfizzle the Best on Planet Earth was chosen as the Dublin UNESCO Citywide Read 2019. Her 2025 non-fiction guide to writing for children, Making It Up as You Go Along: A Children’s Guide to Writing, illustrated by Mary Murphy, was published by Little Island in association with Laureate na nÓg. She is married to Padraic and has two grown up children. She still lives in Galway, her favourite city in the world.
