Shadow of the Sun

Dr. Gabriella Moretti has built a career on things other people would rather leave unexplained. Give her a body, a laboratory, and enough time, and she can usually find an answer. The three corpses shipped to her from Italy are proving less cooperative. Their wounds are closing. Their bodies are repairing themselves. By the hour, they look a little less dead.Science has prepared Gabriella for plenty of strange things. Immortals and ancient prophecies weren't on the syllabus. She barely has time to decide how much of this new reality she's willing to believe before the plane carrying her and the three bodies begins dropping out of the sky. Somewhere between certain death and the ground, the dead wake.Gabriella survives with Andrew's arms around her.Hours earlier, he'd been one of her corpses. Now he's very much alive, centuries out of place, and somehow easier for Gabriella to trust than most of the people insisting they have answers for her. Being stranded with him should probably make things awkward. Falling for him certainly does. But Andrew has his own missing pieces, and the closer they become, the more their mysteries seem to tangle together. The immortals call Gabriella the Illuminator, a name buried in an ancient prophecy. Then come the visions, memories that aren't hers, and powers she can't always control. Someone knows the truth about her past—and wants her dead before she can uncover it.Following the evidence leads Gabriella through conflicting histories, angels with reasons to lie, and questions about herself she may regret answering. Andrew stays beside her through it all, until uncovering the mystery and falling for the immortal at its center become dangerously tangled.Because Gabriella is falling in love with an immortal. And she's still trying to figure out why he was dead in the first place.
