Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls

For fans of The Mothers and The Turner House, a dazzling debut novel about mothers and daughters, identity and family, and how the relationships that sustain can also be the ones that consume you.

For three generations, the Butlers have lived in a white brick house in New River Junction where the rushing St Joseph and Portage Rivers meet. The family has had their share of trials--as sisters Althea, Viola, and Lillian can attest--but nothing prepared them for the secret one of them has been harboring, or the literal trial that will upend their lives.

Althea, the eldest sister and substitute matriarch, is a force to be reckoned with and her younger sisters have alternately appreciated and chafed at her strong will. But they are as stunned as the rest of the small community when they learn she and her husband have been lying to everyone for years, and the bill for their scam has finally come due.

Now as Althea awaits her fate, Viola and Lillian must come together in the house they grew up in to care for their sister''s teenage daughters. But the home holds ghosts for each of the Butlers, and Voila and Lillian must face their pasts if they are to get it right for the next generation.
