This volume analyzes the geographical distribution of Meistergesang, which was practiced by craftspeople for centuries. It utilizes the data made available by the “Repertory of Sangsprüche and Meisterlieder” to examine the presence of Meistersinger in more than seventy towns. Where more stable guilds were able to form, the entries for the various towns provide information about the historical context, scholarship, and sources.
