Redemptus ab hostibus

The research is divided into two parts: the first discusses the legal status of the Roman citizen redeemed by the enemy (civis redemptus ab hostibus); the second discusses the juridical condition of the slave ransomed by the enemy (servus redemptus ab hostibus), (the so-called constitutio de redemptis).
