Shara Hughes’s paintings are a journey with twists and turns through the jungle of an exuberant inner world. Her motifs are charged with manifold associations. Some works read as an homage to Georgia O’Keeffe, yet their expressive use of colour is most heavily influenced by Fauvist visions of landscape and the Expressionism of the modern era.
